Position Summary: SUnder the direction of the Office Manager, performs a variety of clerical and support work involving both specific routines and broadly defined policies and procedures; greets and interacts with the public; works cooperatively with staff, students, and parents; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Meet and interact with the public and employees with tact, discretion, courtesy, and customer service
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties involving constant interaction with the public
  • Give information and interpretations of policies and procedures related to school activities
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor accurate and efficient electronic and manual filing systems
  • Sort and classify incoming mail and other information for efficient disbursement to appropriate recipients
  • Prepare letters, memoranda, reports, bulletins, handbooks, questionnaires, requisitions and other materials from marginal notes, rough drafts, and verbal instructions
  • Compile information from various sources on a variety of standardized forms
  • Assist in the orientation and training of the employees, volunteers, or aides
  • Ability to handle confidential information with complete security
  • Gather and prepare appropriate attendance/accounting information
  • Retrieve daily attendance reports, log attendance notices in the system, and follow up on unexplained student absences with parents
  • Maintain and monitor attendance reports as requested and help school officials identify student attendance problems
  • Attend PEIMS and any other required trainings
  • Monitor student and visitor log sheets daily
  • Conform to District policy regarding employee attendance and absences
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Job Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Two years clerical/secretarial experience in a high-quality customer service environment; database management
  • Required Skills and Capabilities: Computer and general office equipment skills; MS Office Suite skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team; ability to perform minimal bookkeeping procedures and knowledge of office practices and procedures; ability to learn and interpret rules, regulations, laws and instructions; ability to perform required clerical work accurately and within established timelines; ability to operate a variety of office machines and utilize word, databases, and spread sheet programs; ability to exercise independent judgement in the interrelation and application of standard practices and procedures; knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
  • Preferred Skills and Capabilities: Spanish Conversant; experience working with students and parents in a public school setting or institution of higher education; experience with PEIMS
  • Physical Requirements: ability to carry up to 25 lbs.; valid driver license
