Hello and welcome to my webpage!  My name is Ryan Wiggins and I teach 3rd grade.  I grew up in Fort Worth, TX, went to Arlington Heights High School, and graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.  I have loved my 7 years of experiences here at the Academy of Fine Arts, it is a great school!

At first the Spelling/Vocabulary rotation can be confusing for parents and students.  Below I have outlined spelling words and vocabulary assignment up until Christmas break** Please don’t have you child jump ahead Units on the assignments. Thanks.

Below is an example of a vocabulary card. Your child will be given blank cards and they will be in their note card holder.  Cards are due on the Monday of vocabulary week, so they are responsible for completing them during the spelling week.  Theses are great study tools and they are allowed to use them on the review tests that happen after every 4 units.

Unlined part of the card

Parents:  if any of you are interested in donating any of the following to my prize box that would be great!! These prizes are given to students who fill out their reward cards with stickers.

For example-

·        fun pencils

·        mechanical pencils

·        cute erasers

·        colored pens

·        trinkets

·        books !!!

·        toys

·        beanie babies

·        candy (only chocolate no hard candy)

·        coloring books

Theses are just some suggestions; anything else you can think of would be great too.  We really need your help on this.  Your help is the only way we can make this work.  So start collecting this summer, we will really appreciate it!!!!!!!!!

Day the Hawks Came

Every year I have a former student’s dad Kurt Reineck come to my classroom and bring his hawks. He has been a falconer for many years and I think I enjoy seeing the hawks more than my kids do. This time he brought 2 Harris Hawk Zeus and Hercules. Zeus he captured from the wild and trained him and he got Hercules from a breeder so he was raised in captivity. It was a great experience to see such amazing creatures up-close.
