FWAFA Named One of the Top High Schools in the Country
Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) has been ranked #84 in the nation among public high schools in a list just released by TheDailyBeast.com. It is the only Fort Worth school and one of only 13 Texas schools ranked in the Top 100. FWAFA was also named among the top 5% of public schools nationally and awarded a Silver Medal in the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Ranking. Additionally, this month the Texas Education Agency (TEA) designated FWAFA as a Reward School for high performance.Read More >
Texas Boys Choir Renewed as Artist on Prestigious Texas Touring Roster
FORT WORTH, TX—“Ring of Fire,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Star Wars- John Williams is the Man” and “Ave Maria” are just a few of the selections to be heard when booking a performance of Fort Worth-based Texas Boys Choir (TBC) through the Texas Touring Roster. Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) celebrates Tutu Tuesday on April 29 to promote the performance of a ballet double bill of Les Sylphides and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The shows will be May 2 & 3 at 7:00 PM at the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts, located at 3901 S. Hulen St. On Tuesday, April 29, students, faculty and staff will wear tutus throughout the school day to celebrate, show their support for dance and compete for prizes. Tutus can be store bought or homemade. All tutu-wearing students will gather for a huge group picture to commemorate the event.Read More >
Children's Choir of Texas Concert Rescheduled for Monday, January 13, 2014
Thanks to the ice storm and FWAFA's very busy December calendar, we have the distinct pleasure of extending Christmas celebrations well into January this year! Children's Choir of Texas and Elementary Choirs unfortunately had to miss their original concert date due to inclement weather, so the concert has been rescheduled for Monday, January 13, 2014. The show will still take place at the FWAFA auditorium at 7 PM. All tickets purchased for the original date will be honored that night. FWAFA Visual Arts Students Receive Local and National Recognition for Outstanding Work
Fort Worth, TX—Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts is proud to congratulate junior Kasey Williams for her Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards of 2013 National Gold Medal. Her winning photograph, titled “Conglomeration,” has been chosen as one of the most outstanding pieces of artwork this year. Of the more than 200,000 works submitted in 2013, only 700 were chosen as National Gold Medal winners. In addition to this prestigious award, Williams will be joined by fellow FWAFA student Jeremy Anderson for an all-expense paid summer art workshop at the Rachofsky House in Dallas.Read More >
