POSITION: ELEMENTARY VISUAL ARTS TEACHER

Position Summary:

The elementary visual arts teacher is responsible for providing the highest quality experience and training for students in 3rd-6th grades. In addition to training in techniques and skills in the visual arts classes, the teacher also collaborates with academic faculty in creative instruction. This includes teacher-led classroom instruction providing students with the opportunity to think critically about their own artwork, art work of peers, and historically significant works of art. Working with other faculty and administration, the teacher will support the school's mission through planning exhibitions and curriculum development in alignment with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the National Core Arts Standards.

POSITION: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Department: Fine Arts - Visual Arts
 
Essential Job Functions:

  • Create a positive, safe working environment, and be a role model and mentor for students 
  • Design and teach a TEKS-based curriculum for all technical theater classes 
  • Design or supervise all technical elements for productions 
  • Supervise and schedule students for technical crew positions and stage-management 
  • Work within the vision of the organization to produce a finished and budget-appropriate production before deadlines 
  • Supervise, coordinate, and assign students in construction and maintenance of production elements 
  • Support fine arts projects or events, on and off campus 
  • Maintain equipment and performance facilities 
  • Attend and give reports during staff, production, and postmortem meetings 
  • Provide technical expertise and support for outside organizations during facility rentals 
  • Others as assigned 

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Education – college degree required with a concentration in Technical Theater, as well as teacher certification or Highly Qualified designation. (Alternative certification may be in progress.) 
  • Experience – ideally a minimum three years technical theater experience; limited technical theater experience will be taken into consideration. Prior teaching experience preferred. 
  • Required Skills and Capabilities – must be able to design and construct props, scenery, sets, lighting, and sound; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team; excellent verbal and written communication; budget planning/management 
  • Preferred Skills and Capabilities – integration of technical theater classes into productions; current in design and build technologies and software 
  • Physical Requirements – ability to carry up to 75 lbs.; valid driver license
